1 year complete for grubby!
An inspiration you are Grubby! I have a question. I think of my sobriety all day. Its new. Was there a day or a number of days that you didn't think about it? 3 months? 6 months? 9? Still think about it daily?
After ending a relationship (not by choice) eventually you realize you didn't think about her in a day or 2 days. Usually this means (to me anyway) that I am better, I've moved on.
Just curious. Congrats again! -MRJ
EDIT: Anyone can answer my question. Thanks.

I wouldn't say I think of my sobriety all the time, but definitely frequently throughout every day at the moment. I'd like to think a time will come where it just 'is' and I won't think about it quite so frequently!
Good question, MRJ!

I think something really important is simply finding something else to occupy your mind with. Lately money has been on my mind a lot, so drinking is the last thing on my mind. I remember around June of 2014 i took up 2 new hobbies and it helped IMMENSELY.
It doesn't get mentioned on here much, but in my opinion simple boredom is one of the biggest triggers and cause of a lot of cravings and relapses. I would say it is almost up there with the usual suspects such as stress, depression, anxiety.
I guess i am lucky in that I only drank for a couple years in comparison, although the drinking progressed surprisingly quick in that time. I imagine getting off of this drug is much harder for those who have been at it for a long time, say 10+ years.
This is a very mysterious condition...... booze starts off as your best friend, and ends up being your worst enemy. Very strange indeed.

Congratulations Grubby, that is a sensational milestone and inspiring achievement. It's people like you who give people like me, who have just started their journey, hope that this demon can be beaten.
