If you see a doctor, which in my case was hard to do due to the anxiety, they can give you something to help with it. And in my experience, it has helped a ton.

Panic/anxiety disorder is downright scary.
But, it might be your bodies way of telling you things have got to change.

My doctor gave me lorazepam for panic attacks. I took one a little while ago but the chest tightness is driving me insane

If you dont mind me asking, whats your age?

If the chest tightness keeps up, after giving your meds time to kick in, it might be in the best interest to get checked out at the emergency room.

I agree with Dee. Don't mess around. If think you need help get it asap. Try taking some deep breaths and calm yourself down. I think most of us know what you are going through and it isn't pretty but it doesn't have to be permanent.

I'm a 26 year old male. Ex football player. 6'3 290lbs. My chest tightness is only ever there during a hangover with panic attack episodes.

Same age.
I always...always..always thought I was having a heart attack when I had a panic attack.

Drinking a lot of water always seemed to help a little.

Scared, if I didnt know any better, I would swear it was myself talking in a guy form.

You can be happy, stress and pain free. You just have to set your mind to it, take the necessary steps, focus. You said you used to play football, I bet that took a lot of dedication and drive... if you could put that kind of effort into getting on the path to sobriety, I know you'll be successful.
I'm still in very early recovery myself, not even 4 months, so I'm not that great at giving advice, but I feel like if I can do it, anyone can. I'm here if ya want to talk or anything.

Good for you, Scared. Day 1, concentrate on each day not way into the future.

I think a lot of his this point, Scared1234. It became pretty obvious to me that my life was going to slowly wind down- once booze took everyone good in my life it would take my life as well. But I decided to write a different ending to my story. You can do it too!

Scared, I feel for you, I know about those panic attacks.

I know it seems insurmountable right now, but it's not.

It may seem like a lot of us have a strength that you do not possess, but that's not true.

Many, if not all, of us have been exactly where you are now. I know I have.

It starts with making the decision to get sober, whatever it takes, and an active plan that you work every day.

You can do this, you really can.

How are you today Scared?

My man, you are 26, 6'3 and 290 pounds. You have a hole future ahead of you and a physique/genetics going for you.

Count your blessings, kick the the bottle to the curb. Or tackle it football style!

I could almost bet my next pay check, that in a few weeks/months you can be a pilar on SR. Helping others. Make this your final stand, last day one, last time feeling like your dying.
