New to the site, only semi-new to sobriety.
56 (57 on Saturday), suburban housewife, married with a 14 year old son. I was a periodic for years, then within a few months progressed to blackout every night, hungover every morning. Alcohol became my lover, and it would have been way too easy to lose everything including my family. The really sad part is that I wouldn't have cared.
Fortunately I had a moment of clarity, realized I had a problem and needed help, called a local outpatient treatment program. As part of their program I had to attend daily AA meetings, and I haven't left the rooms since.
Sober since 05/20/2011, active in H&I (Hospitals and Institutions), have a sponsor, trying to carry the message instead of the mess.

Hello Eleanor, Welcome to the Forum, A lot of Sources and a lot of nice people here. I am glad I found this site. It has been a big help for me to get things off my chest and read what others have to say.
