In fairness my GP was pretty understanding. Antebuse and a mild dose of Diazepam to help with the anxiety. There was nothing he could do about the waiting list for counselling and I wasn't bad enough for a residential detox.
Well done on 9 days Jen73!!

Hi Chaostar
Try to be kind to yourself for the first days
I took time off work. Ate what I wanted, read books, watched movies, stopped worrying about everyone else and just tried to clear my mind.
Try not to focus on the bad negatives and feel really good about any small positives. I actually went around doing the old fist pump and saying "yes I feel great!" every day that I woke up sober.
If all else failed I lay on the bed and slept or listened to music. Gradually I'm getting a real high from exercise and weight training which I've just started slowly. Keep strong and post regularly. It helps to clear your thoughts and the support on here is awesome.

Hi Leb. Thanks for the advice. I was seven months sober before this relapse and found the gym a massive help. Normally my drinking would only be out of control for a few days before my wife intervened. Since we split up due to my alcoholism, I had nobody to 'put the brakes' on so I've damaged my body more.
This site has been a massive help when things seem hopeless.
