the fool
the fool
Sometimes I really feel like I'm the fool, I put my heart out there, outstretched, handing it to another person to do with what they will. I don't know if they will be gentle, loving or just stomp all over it. Its crazy what a risk we take with something so valuable.
I think as I get older, and certainly since I got into recovery, I'm a lot better at working out who is likely to be good for me (and my heart) and who is not.

I agree with Trach. Don't cast your pearls before swine, but the only thing scarier than putting your heart out there is the life you're stuck with for NOT putting your heart out there.

I took a risk and I got the reward. Don't let the fear of doing something cause you to do nothing. You never know what awaits us if we just reach out.

Charlie.. Even in stories, the Fool Is usually "the god guy" who looks at life through wide, innocent eyes. With so much in life, it takes pain and change to make us grow. Putting your heart out there and being your authentic self is never a bad thing; trusting the wrong people is, but even so, there is no shame in being played.
I agree with the other posters - keeping your heart behind walls will keep your soul in chains. Giving your heart, knowing at the core, no one can touch or change who your really are... That's strength and freedom beyond words.
Look up the Fool Tarot card, if you're interested. I'm not a big mystical-type gal, but I love what the fool represents. A change in self to seeing the world in a more childlike way, journeys, about finding and following your hearts desire. He's my favourite
