Thanks for this powerful reminder about how alcohol has affected so many lives and the importance of staying sober no matter how difficult it is. This forum, or I should say the people posting on this forum, have helped me. 17 days sober now.

Welcome Bella,

I also had seizures at 36, and also lost everything important to me (jobs, loved ones, etc). And like you, I finally decided it was "all or nothing" and put sobriety at the absolute top of my list. Today I am 39, and I could not be happier about that decision! You are doing the right thing. Stick close to SR, there are so many here who have been in your shoes and have experienced success. Glad to meet you!

Glad you're here!

Great post - words of wisdom and indeed a wakeup call for others.

I think we need to reach that point of ready to go to any lengths in becoming sober.....until that point is reached, there is very little hope. I know this was true for me. Alcoholics simply don't listen to words from others - until the point of acceptance in their own heart and the willingness to change.

Sounds like you're at that point = Good!!
Glad you're here with us

Bella,

You can regain those things if you stay sober. Or maybe they'll be less important. In any case, welcome.
