Hi. I am a new member here. I'd love to meet new friends. I've been sober this time since 18 August 2005. I'm "new," but have also been around the block a few times. (30 plus years!) I know that without AA, there is a good chance I might "slip" again. So, please (someone!) write. I'll get the hang of this site hopefully soon. Thank you! Caitlin5
Welcome Cailin5, This site is a bit different, I'm just getting the hang of it. I tried to send you a message earlier. Check out the different groups, I have joined the 1 year and over club myself.

You can't always get what you want....... Grrrrrrr! Impulse control is a problem for me. Even in sobriety. I need to learn to THINK before I blast out an opinion. Some days are better than others........ but if you try sometime; you just might find....... You get what you need. I will trust in the process today. Thanks! Caitlin5

Welcome Caitlin! Just because you are not in AA doesn't necessarily mean you are destined to "slip". I had that mindset and I really believed it and I did slip. This time around I am trying to shed that old thinking and am finding there truly are many roads to recovery. SR is one of the greatest tools I have ever discovered and my sobriety feels very strong. I am not knocking AA and such as I believe it is a great tool for certain folks so if it has really worked for you in the past then going back might be the right choice. Stick around!
Hi and welcome Caitlin - great to have you here
There's a lot of us here who did other programmes aside from AA and others like me who did no programme at all, apart from using the help and support of this community.
So long as we keep working on our recovery, I don't think relapse is at all inevitable
