Just adopted a new pup yesterday. 10 weeks old. Pointer mix. That makes three dogs total. I remember going on drunken benders..wouldn't walk the dogs wouldn't take them out..forget to feed them..my drunk ways affected everybody..even my dogs. 4 more hours till 180 days sober

Today =180 days clean for me. Not one drop of booze not one hit of weed. Life has never been better. I should have cleaned up my act a long time ago. I'm jogging at 5 am. My bank account is full. My wife can't get enough of me and my sons look up to me. Hallelujah. I feel reborn via sobriety.

Recent studies show there really is no safe amount of alcohol to consume. Alcohol is poison. Plain and simple. Being drunk/buzzed is the body's way of saying it has been poisoned.

@ karlham....Thanks for your encouragement and way to go on 180 days clean. Appreciate the poison comment, I agree with that and pretty much always knew that..but why does a poison like wine have to taste so good!! Lol. But I had enough vino for a life time..my new poison in mostly. Water, tea/ coffee and diet cream soda . Love waking up without a hangover or fuzziness...

@on my way. Yep. Waking up feeling great is definitely one of the great upsides of sobriety. I agree about your enough booze for lifetime comment. That hits the nail on the head. We had our drunk time. Nothing left to explore or discover. Time sail on to calmer deeper waters. Stay the course. U can do this.

Cleaning out a closet. Found an old empty wine bottle. Took out the cork and smelled. My lord I gagged and felt a bit like throwing up. 184 days clean. If I once again engagef in my old customary 12 pack a beer and two bottles of wine session. I would probably kill myself. For me sobriety starts with caring about your physical health.

Hey I actually did the same yesterday... Found an old bottle at the bottom of my wardrobe (god knows when I put it there)... Personally didn't gag at it and made me crave but then I'm on day 36 so not as far along (btw huge well done on 184 days )!!
It definitely feels good to think there will be no more hiding bottles though!! Xx

Ah..another sober Sunday evening. Strait laced and ready for the upcoming week. Do I want to head back to work tomorrow? No not really. But I'm heading in with a clear head and pain free body. And that makes Monday much easier for me.

I'm not rich. By any means. Never have been. I've always worked. I always blew money on weed and booze. Now that I haven't touched either in 186 days...I am shocked by how much cash I am saving. I may literally be able to retire 5-10 years earlier then expected. Mein gott I should have quit years ago. But hey better late than never right.

Why is it american culture seems to glorify drunkaness & drunkards...it seems the same over in Britain as well...spring break, pub crawls, sports day booze fests...I was fooled for so long but not anymore. There's nothing cool/gratifying/or manly about pounding booze.
