Sky Dive

Was addicted for years and told myself for years that one of these days i was going to sky dive. never got to it. never managed to save the 170 bucks necessary for it it would all go to drugs. five months clean and the other day, did my first jum with a back flip exit, free fall with 360s and other stunts (with instructor of course) never felt so free. so to the ones who are having a challenging day, know that post acute withdrawal syndromes are quite painful but so worth the challenge. I had strong ones just last week, i will try to remember as best as I can that they too shall pass and remember guys, we are doing something super hard... so kindness to ourselves. Have a wonderful day!!!!

Did you jump at Z-Hills? I made hundreds of jumps there many years ago.

Yep, well the abbreviation "Z-Hills" or "Z-HillZ" was just to throw you for a loop. Or maybe a barrel roll. Or a 360.

Good times - mine were pretty soaked in alcohol and drugs, so your experience will be different, for sure! Enjoy. I made a lot of jumps in Deland, too. I don't live in FLA anymore. Is that DZ still there in Deland? They had the best jumpers and plane back in the day. Lots of innovative stuff happened there in the 70s and 80s.

Great center with great instructor and innovative stuff it seems. Famous for its decent pricings as well

When I was jumping in Deland, Bill Booth had just invented the three ring release system, and the harnesses now used to attach students to the instructor (tandem) were invented at about that same time.

The first tandem jump I saw was for a child who was (I think) autistic. He was about 11 years old, and his parents were both jumpers. I was on the plane with them. It was so bizarre at that time! Now tandem is commonplace. An eleven year old skydiving would never make it past the attorneys or insurance these days, more than likely.

I never even made a static line jump or a tandem jump. Right into freefall - first jump. I don't know if any sport DVs do that anymore.

Awesome!! They let you exit your first jump in a back flip?? Wow! Things sure have changed since my first jump. We had two options.... Static line jump or a accelerated free fall ( AFF ). A back flip exit was not a remote option.

Congrats on you sober time!

You certainly have more guts than I do. I could never do that, would be too terrified.
