Cranky pants.

I just feel like everything is irritating and frustrating me! I can't lose weight even though I'm doing everything right. I work out everyday and eat right but it doesn't matter I still can't fit in my old cloths. I hate it. For years I could eat and drink whatever I wanted but now in my mid 30's no matter how hard I try the fat is just stuck on me!

And my boyfriend is getting on my nerves so badly. He's not trying to and I know that it's me and not him. I feel like everytime I move he gets up and trys to pounce on me. I guess some women would find it sweet but I just don't need to be touched and fondled all the time. And the more I pull away the more persistant he becomes. And he wants updates about every little thing. I just told him that I don't owe him an explanation for every move that I make.

I just feel so raw this morning. And tense. And thisty.... I'm thirsty. I would love the sweet escape of a bottle.

Don't worry I'm not going to drink but **** it's hard to deal with all these yucky feelings.

I am cranky today too!

Just venting can make you feel better.

No drinking today for either of us.

zenchaser there is always a way to lose weight you just need to find what works for you. If whatever you're doing isn't working, you tweak it.

But the important thing is you are not drinking. Hope you feel better!

mns1 I added strength training like you suggested. I've cut out sweets. I work out 6 days a week for an hour. I don't over eat. I have cereal for breakfast, soup and salad for lunch, and meat and veggies or pasta for dinner. Normal portions. I just don't get it. What am I doing wrong?

I use the cross trainer machine at the gym for my cardio. I have a bad knee so any aerobics that has jumping or fancy step work are very difficult for me. But I'm burning around 650 calories in an hour on the machine.

The trick for me was to make sure the deficit wasn't too large. My sweet spot was to eat around 1700 calories per day while I was lifting weights every other day, with a day or two of cardio thrown in. My suggestion is to aim for around a 250-300 deficit. Here's a TDEE (total daily energy expenditure) calculator: http://www.fitnessfrog.com/calculato...alculator.html

I don't calorie count, I just try to eat reasonably. But it's probably a good idea to start.

It's not about being obsessive, just fyi, it's really about seeing what it takes to keep you going. It's educational. You'll figure out how much you expend and how much you need for intake. I'd actually end up eating 2000+ calories per day while weightlifting and still shed fat. Fun times

I certainly don't count cals any longer, but I found it helpful when trying to lose weight.

There's a good free site for it called sparkpeople that's similar to the weight watchers program. It lets you track your food and exercise. I will start using it again today because msn1 is right, there is always a way to lose weight.

Thanks guys

By the way, the info I gave you up there... I beat my head in over things before stumbling across that. I learned from weightlifting guys on MyFitnessPal and some of them knew their stuff.

Calorie counting is the only way.

I agree with Jen, about 1700 a day is the sweet spot for me, too. 2000 if I get in a workout. If you are eating three meals a day that you described, it's pretty easy to be taking in 2500. That will defeat weight loss. One day of overeating can cancel out a week's worth of small deficits.

I had to buy a $20 food scale to become aware of portion sizes. I'm able to maintain my weight now, but it's a long process to learn foods and how much to eat. I also used MyFitnessPal - for years. I'm still on there. They have a lot of good info, and the best food database on the web. I've searched.

Yeah, the food scale doesn't lie And it was pretty amazing to realize how many calories I was underestimating.

I have to remind myself that if it aint
in the house then I wont eat it. Same
as it is with alcohol or narcotic drugs
or meds, pills.

I armed myself with lots of recovery
material around me. Easy to pick up
for inspiration, learning, listening to,
plaques with AA or recovery sayings,
music, nature, frsh air, sunshine, rest.

Weight has always been an issue for
me just like millions have. I got inspired
from a friend many yrs ago because he
worked out and was strong, healthy, positive.

I wanted to be strong, healthy too. Of course
over the yrs, ive been up and down like a
yo yo with my weight. Then as I got older
and retired, I have to force myself, find
some kind of motivation to move or work
out some here at home.

I have all my equipement and use them
to the best of my ability. Right by my feet
I have 2 of Suzanne Somer Master toner
for my thighs. Thigh and butt. They show
both on Amazon if you'd like to check them
out.

I also have other small pieces of equipement
to use while im sitting. Remembering that
even tho my metabolism is slower now at
56 and in menopause stage, I have to work
it if it is to work. Walking is also good if you
have a park nearby. Just stroll and enjoy
the birds, fresh air, nature.

They have small cycles that you can use
sitting down. It gets the legs moving with
a click of a dial. You can set it to manuel
or it will roll by itself.

I use to pick up Muscle and Fitness magazines
just to look at the men all pumped up.
Anything to inspire me.

Food wise.....eating protein, veggies, grains,
avoiding white stuff, like potatoes, rice, breads.
Lean meat, fish, veggies, exercise, recovery
program, faith equals health, happy, sobriety.

However, I can spot one ounce of sharp cheddar at fifty paces.

The reality of the amount of food we actually need is key.

zenchaser,

what struck me from your post is the being thirsty that you mention twice.
thirsty and cranky irritable happenend to me lots on certain workdays, and that was after a few years sober.

took me a while to realize that i WAS actually THIRSTY, not for booze (though that's how it felt) but for hydration.

i didn't recognize real thirst at all.

try water when you feel like that, do that for a while and see if it eases the rest.

Careful about being a chronic overachiever and setting yourself up for a fall .

We are all allowed a day off to hang round in our sloppy joes and eat rubbish as long as we don't make a habit of it as long as we keep sober .

I remember when i was drinking and could loose a whole weekend feeling rough staying in bed with a bottle on the bedside table , crisps/chips and chocolate …

so nowadays one day off a week is an indulgence i allow myself,

Take care , m

I include a cheat day which happens to be today! Some studies show that eating a burger spikes your metabolism a bit to sort of keep it on its toes. Otherwise one can reach a standstill. So I allow 1 day where I eat what I want! I find that I will be back to where I was in a couple days on my weight loss fitness program. I don't know it may be "bro" science but I love my cheat day and it seems to be working for me. Calorie awareness is a fact I had to accept, even though I didn't want to.
Good luck, you will find the little tweak in your regimen that helps the fat just melt off!

If you mean it literally, this would make me irritable nearly anytime even if I were in the best mood ever otherwise, and I also know it's me
