Alcoholism is progressive; that is universal. So, no you are not alone.

No, you certainly aren't alone. The more you drink over longer periods of time the more you need to chase that elusive high. Your tolerance builds. So, hang here if you want to learn to stay sober.

SoberLeigh 02-03-2015 11:39 AM

You are not alone, Dan. What you have described is the progression of the disease.

Soberwolf 02-03-2015 11:58 AM

Alcoholism is progressive

Been there Dan with beer, and then wine, then liquor.

My drinking career started with 2 beers then bed, by the time I quit it was close to a bottle of whisky, progression was the name of the game!!

Esspee 02-03-2015 12:58 PM

No, it's not just you x

Dee74 02-03-2015 01:10 PM

How long do you think you can keep this drinking life up Dan?

D

SoberLeigh 02-03-2015 01:15 PM

Are you ready to give sobriety a go, Dan? You can leave those bottles of wine behind you forever.

Anna 02-03-2015 01:18 PM

Dan, I hope you are ready to stop drinking.

You don't want to do the things I did when 3 bottles was no longer enough. Stop now.

Jsbodhi 02-03-2015 04:24 PM

Nope not alone, I'm the same

JanieJ 02-04-2015 12:43 AM

Dan, you re not alone, but what does that prove ? Just that you are rolling down a hill of self- destruction, like so many of us were here before we got sober.

Do you really want to go further and find out what it's like to lose everything ?

I hope you are ready to stop drinking my friend, you know that we will all support you and there is plenty of help available in the outside world too.

Don't end up like me. middle-aged, no career, no money, divorced, starting from scratch. Health scares on top of that.

Come on man, you can do this, you're worth more than three bottle of wine.

Yankees2015 02-04-2015 02:22 AM

You're not alone Dan! Dee, Janie, LBrain, everybody - great support as usual. Dan, you have the benefit of the experience of folks that have been there, done that and saw the light and are are committed to being sober. Keep coming on to this site. And I'm right there with you on the wine and needing more and more, that's why I'm here on SR and am new to recovery as well. I had enough and wanted a change and to live differently, sounds like you're there too (?). I realized that nothing (NOTHING) good came from drinking.

soberclover 02-04-2015 02:31 AM

I started off with a few bumps and bruises and ended up in the hospital with a traumatic brain injury.

trachemys 02-04-2015 03:50 AM

No, you're not alone. If you don't do something about it now, you'll be where I was: three half-gallons of vodka a week. Then, it's hell to quit.
