New puppy!
New puppy!
Well I have been living alone since my divorce. I decided to get a beagle. I can tell you in addition to sobriety and new set of responsibility I can see I just acquired....like a child. This might be good for me. I dont have custody of my 2 children yet, but maybe this puppy can teach me the patience love and consitancy I was missing. Just giving my uninvited attention is a challenge but I am pushing thru
Yes I fell a long way but I will get it back!

YEAH for puppies! Agree that they are a handful, but are lots of fun. I remember years ago getting my first dog after extracting myself out of a horrible situation. That dog literally brought me back to the land of the living, and today, I truly believe that my pups keep me sane and sober (well, not always sane )
PS: Do do (haha) some puppy training classes. They will be great confidence builders and bonding moments for both of you.

Yaay for puppies in early recovery! Mine has stuck by me through many challenges! At night, as we cuddle to sleep, I tell him "you're my best friend," and mean it. Ok, for some folks that may sound dorky, & I have a zillion humans in my life, but he's, um, my best friend. Yesterday we walked on the empty beach for hours, watching the hunks of ice flow past with the tide. We were so happy. Most of my happy times in sobriety (probably 65%ish) are with my pup...
We did start puppy class & also agility class & both are neat activities exposing me to very different kinds of people, so there are new human connections associated with the pup in my life too...
I keep wanting to attach a photo, but don't know how - it asks for a URL, & I just have then on my phone...

I got two Beagles last summer!! I LOVE them so much The puppy was a handful and it was a learning experience for us both. I was pretty freaked out the first month and then things fell into place.
