Hanging in there

24/7 drinker for more years than I care to remember. I was on the verge of losing everything; my world was starting to fall apart. I no longer drank because I wanted to. I drank because, if I didn't, I would become so sick that I wouldn't be able to function. I must have believed in a higher power because I asked it to take me or just erase me from the world. I hated every moment of every day, and even sleep gave me no succor.
I don't exactly know what happened, but, when I was at my very lowest point, I picked up the phone and asked for help. I was put in touch with a recovery center and checked myself in.
Today I am sober and reasonably happy with my life. I am recovering many things that I lost and still others that I wasn't aware of. Life is worth living again.

Hi Markus! It's so good to meet you.

I was in the same sad shape when I quit. I drank every day for decades. I couldn't imagine my life without it, even though it was taking me down. Finding SR really helped me stay strong. Everyone here understood and wanted to help. We're glad to have you part of us. Congratulations for reclaiming your life.

Picking up that phone took courage. I admire your determination.

Shows that it only takes a move on our part for things to start to change. Momentum is created by action.

Welcome to SR and congratulations on making that call and taking that step. Sounds much like me and what i did at the end of my drinking. This is a better way.
