Unexpected day off and i want to drink

I have tomorrow off because of the blizzard coming and that stupid voice in my head is telling me its ok to drink tonight since i don't have to work in the morning. I know i can't drink because shoveling with a hangover really blows. Aaaaaaarrrrrrrggggggg somene shut this voice of in my head before i loose it.

Good job, 2Wheelterror, coming here to talk. We'll help you shut that AV down.

Is your home alcohol free?

Think of some project you've been working on that you can work on tonight and tomorrow morning. Use the free day as an opportunity to get things done and not to waste in bed.

Think about your body and how thankful you'll be for not shoveling poison in your system for an entire night.

Think of all the weight you'll gain because of the empty calories.

Take the money you would have spent and put it into savings.

I remember all the winter storms I "stocked up" for in the course of 35 years drinking, and how hard the first sober blizzard was. But I made it through that one, and dozens of other perfect reasons to get drunk.

So can you.

Make up a list of things you are going to do, since you won't be drinking.

My house is booze free so I'm good there. Gotta find something to fill the time with.

Go out and shovel instead while enjoying the post blizzard sunshine on the snow. That's my favorite part.

I am another voice in your head and I am telling you not to drink.

There is no negotiating with the AV. Shut it down!

Maybe shovel while it is still snowing so you can stay ahead of the job. Of course, if it is blowing and drifting, that could only be frustrating.

I've weathered a lot of storms - real and metaphorical - over the last 8 years - you can too

If nothing else, stay close to SR - read around - maybe post to others - that really helped to focus me

Wonder if you can shovel someone else's drive as well as your own? Sometimes helping someone else will shut that urge down!!!

Keep coming back~!

That voice will always find a reason or an excuse to drink...keep strong and enjoy your day off sober and do something nice for yourself that doesn't involve alcohol xx
