Paws symptoms 2 month mark

Hi all,

What were/are youre PAWS symptoms?

Ive noticed the stressing about health isnt as constant as it was initially.

The light headed dizzy groggy yuk feeling has gone about 2 weeks ago.....sleep has Improved but I need to be strict on when I go to sleep and get up. Naps make me feel ****. So does eating sugar or salt before bed makes me feel sober hungover next day.

I find I struggle to catch up on sleep on days off and still wake up still bit groggy mildly light headed at times... my appetite has returned in a vegence. I dream about drinking skme times.

Ive started exercising at my doctor s orders but only doing 10 min at 5 on the treadmill as had a phobia for raising my heart rate due to panic attacks earlier on. Ive returned to work and not leaving early due to panic attacks in eRly recovery.

I bought a guitar get back into it again...im still a bit too focussed on my body sensations reading into it too much but working on it.

Anyone relate/share where they are?

For me, all that happened with me too but I attributed it to plain out and out anxiety fear and hypochondria Justin.

My Paws episodes were different - I acted a little giddy, almost manic...the episodes would last a day or so...I had a couple of them and then they stopped after 3 months or so?

Hiya MJ
I'm on 32 days.....
Starting to sleep better now.
All the aches / pains etc that I had is starting to settle down.
My health anxiety is starting to settle aswell.
My appetite isn't as bad as it was - I was eating everything in sight...but it's getting better....
We just need to keep on doing what we're doing.
xx

Hi Mr. J -

When my PAWS episodes happened, I got REALLY dumb and forgetful. Not slightly forgetful, but REALLY forgetful. I had to carry a pad with lists and instructions to help me get through the day. I wasn't me by a long shot.

The episodes would come and go. I noticed not having caffeine and taking better care of myself helped.

Hope that helps.

I'm so forgetful right now my 6 year old makes fun of me. I forget what I have said and wind up telling the same story several times until someone calls me out. I try and joke about it. It's embarrassing. So to my friends I say "wow, see...don't do drugs kids" I don't know how else to deal with it right now, lol

My health anxiety spiked to high heaven during the first 30 days. Like you I had acquired a phobia with exercise (I've been an athlete for almost 30 yrs). You have to do a lot of self talking to get out of the cycle of fear. I did that and while it wasn't easy, I'm back hitting the gym hard and heavy these days. What also helped me was going to the doctor and getting a clean bill of health (other than high cholesterol).

In the long run, a regular workout schedule will help ease the anxiety. Keep yourself focused and don't give up.

I think I had issues for about 4 or 5 months, before I started to settle down and the grogginess noticeably lifted.

Unfortunately the drinking dreams have stayed. They are a major pain in the butt, all most 2.5 years sober and it is still not unusual to have them a couple times a week.

Hi Mr Justin and well done

I'm on day 25 and eating like a horse, but good stuff, no sugar, salt, plenty of veg and fruit, sleeping getting better, still have anxiety spells and memory issues, especially when under pressure, have good days and bad days but hope the next 2-3 weeks brings more change for the better. Try to get a walk most evenings after work as have a desk job but it can be difficult after a 12 hour day at work. Still get mild headaches, I find the worst is in the mornings and have to drag myself out of bed for work with headache and woolly head, when I get up and moving it gradually goes. Get well soon, I liked your post, thanks.

I have been waking up feeling good and going to bed every night with a pounding headache. Right behind my eyes and in my temples. I don't know if it's PAWS or just a reverse hangover!! It's brutal though.

Otherwise sometimes I can't think straight and make stupid mistakes and sometimes I'm manic and hyper like Dee described.

My heart is beating too fast which is creeping me out.

Everything else is good though. Sleeping well and eating well and my moods are stable and generally up beat.

Also I'm finding I'm very sensitive to a lot of noise, I can't filter out background noise if someone is trying to talk to me. I find it overwhelming.

I just looked up PAWS and I didn't find anything about headaches which is my biggest gripe. I've never suffered from them before unless they were the self induced ones from drink.

Hi Justin, my symptoms included: foggy thinking, inability to concentrate or read for very long, everyday simple words not coming to mind when I needed them, sleep disturbances very early on, intermittent balance issues, anger, irritability, anxiety, hypomania, depression.

They are mostly gone now. I'm approaching the two year mark. My reading ability and concentration are stellar now, and my vocabulary is back, yay
