Other numbing agents

My AV voice is telling me if I can't have alcohol then 1-2 tylenol 3's won't hurt. I know this is my AV voice - I know I'm going through some stuff here at home - I know I'm being triggered.

So my question is I take it if I go to T3s I'll just abuse them right?

It depends. Are you planning to take them for legitimate pain, migraine, something like that?

Yes. It would be just substituting them for the booze. I go to AA and early in my sobriety I went to a noon meeting like always. I didn't know at the time that on Sunday in my town it is an NA meeting. After I got home from the meeting I flushed my weed and smashed my pipe and grinder with a hammer. I was substituting.

This hits home. I am in chronic pain and am prescribed pain pills. I started taking them a little more often than I should, then more than I should, and finally flushed 44 days without drinking down the drain as I was back in full addiction mode and it all started by substitution. If your back hurts try regular tylenol or motrin before hitting the harder stuff.

Yes the rationale part of me knew this. I guess I was just being. Well being me - I so want to go somewhere right now where I don't have to feel or think. It would have been nice. Oh well

Swapping substances to abuse isn't really a great solution, it simply creates something else to sort out in the long run.

Finding new ways of dealing with life and learning to actually feel things is a large part of Sobriety, escaping through a substance is not a sustainable long term solution to life, at some point we need to learn how to feel life as it happens.

There are many more tools out there rather than substances to deal with life!!

Hang in there!!

I really hope one day you can experience the world from a happier perspective, it's really nice you know, and you notice all the little things you never paid attention too before, like the lines on the backs of leaves when the wind blows them and somehow you appreciate that.
