When do moods even out?

At what point do moods even out? I know it's prob different for different people but just to get an idea. In one way I feel I'm thinking clearer and more stable without the drink but at the moment one minute I'm really feeling positive and pleased with my progress and then the next I'm just feeling really down and fed up. Keep getting all tearful and I don't even know why. I know it's probably normal but I'm wondering when things will even out a bit. X

It took quite awhile, several months, for my moods to even out. I had to get used to dealing with life and all it includes and that was a challenge. But, you can do this. Try to just feel the feelings and let them go. They are not you and they don't control you.

I think part of it is grieving. The emotions are similar and cycle, sad, angry, lonely, etc.

Until acceptance sets in. Give it time, and embrace the emotions.

It was an emotional rollercoaster at first, JadedGirl, with true highs and true lows - with the true lows coming more often than the true highs. It took a few months before things started to even out and I began to know what to expect from myself.

A feeling of lethargy, though, stuck around for six months before it began to gradually lift.

Be patient with, and kind to, yourself.

I know, I'm practicing being mindful. Just wondering if it's too soon to expect to be feeling great all the time I suppose xx

Jaded Girl, it is different for everyone. so much dependent on how much you drank, for how long, what your brain chemistry is like, etc.

for me, I am at 11 weeks, and I am having good and bad days. It has been a slow process. BUT it DOES GET BETTER!!!

Do not give up, this is the greatest gift you can give to yourself.

Be prepared for both good and bad days. Over time, the bad days will be less bad and the good days will be more good.

Keep reaching out! Private message if you need more help.

I understand where you're coming from. I'm at 26 days and I still feel like crap all the time. Physically and emotionaly. I'm just holding on waiting for it to get a little bit easier. I realize now that I'm sober the damage I must have been doing to myself to still feel this horrible 3+ weeks later.

It took several months for me. Probably up to an entire year or more. Things do level out though and it's worth it to persevere through this initial rough patch

Thanks for asking that question jaded girl. I had the same one. It seems like along time for things to start evening out, but if we started over it would be that much longer. We will make it I have faith.....

Just remember that we're all different and so there's no way to know exactly how long it will take you. Keep the faith though. It's well worth it.

I think Anna said it perfectly...

At 90 days sober, my moods are just now starting to level out.
Getting used to dealing with life and trying to decide how I felt (feel) about things has been a little confusing.

The best thing I did was to talk it all out here...

It does get better. It does get easier. Be patient with yourself, and try to be kind to yourself.

Venus xx

Things will even out Jadedgirl,

I'm right there with ya wondering when I will feel "normal" because my normal was using drugs/drink to control my moods so without those as an option I am learning to feel good through clean living and it is taking more time than I initially thought.

Some times I have to remind myself just to stay. Stay put, let my feelings change and pass, and to really just feel them.

Stick around you can do this, you are doing so good btw!
