A tip for AA newcomers
I'm hoping this post is helpful for those of you who may be considering AA or who are new to AA.
When I first started going to AA and got a sponsor, she encouraged me that as I was reading through the Big Book that I should underline things that stood out to me and make notes in the margins. I'm not really one to do that, but I decided to give it a go and thought I even went overboard with whole pages full of scribbled notes, circled words, lines with arrows and underlined passages.
Now around the 2.5 month mark I have lost some of my focus and let AA and recovery start to slip from my mind. As part of my re-commitment I've gone back each evening to reading in the Big Book, and now I really see the value because reviewing my notes and thoughts and how I connected to recovery in those first couple of weeks of sobriety has been a big help to reground me and get me back to where I need to be to be successful.
So don't be afraid to mark up your Big Book and 12x12. It can be a part of your sobriety tool kit not just for now but also as a reference for the future.

Hi and congratulations for not relapsing.
One of the major reasons for relapsing is not remembering what got us were and at meetings.
A friend at meetings with close to 40 years says read all you want to but it’s the APPLICATION of what we read that works for sobriety.
