feeling nervous

So here I sit at the dentist needing a tooth fixed, also needing a pain killer. Makes me nervous but also a little happy

I do NOT like the dentist. I can barely make through the teeth cleaning. Good luck with the tooth!

What makes you a little happy? Getting a pain killer? Hope that doesn't waken your AV.

Not a big fan of the dentist, though since I stopped drinking, my overall dental hygiene has improved so he's been a lot happier with me in recent times!!

Hope all goes well!!

Best of luck with the tooth - most procedures I've had, advil is usually enough for pain

DoggoneCarl that is the part that makes me nervous and a little happy. I have been lonely and a little bored. Too much self reflection going on, too much thinking, too much time on my hands

I was going to ask the same thing? Whats making you happy, the tooth fixing or the pain killer?

Nervous about the pain killer, I seem to like those as well as alcohol. But my tooth is killing me, just don't know how well I will regulate it by myself or how well I will want to

I also have to get a root canal done in the next few weeks and they use the gas and pain killers. I just don't know how I will react, it's been so long and I'm not fully convinced I got this by myself

HI Charliee, i think your doing the right thing by reaching out. Do you have an AA program? I have found that is a great way to get positive contact with others and lift myself up.

One think I have learned in AA is that the signs are usually there well in advance of a relapse. I think Dee also posted an article on the main sober recovery page about the warning signs of a relapse.

I hope this helps!

I remember in my teens a friend of mine had a tooth pulled out by the dentist and requested that he not be given a pain killer. He was one of these vegans that didn't wear rather shoes etc and would not willingly allow any toxins into his body. Anyway, I though that was cool idea and requested no pain killer when I was in the dentist a month or so later also having a tooth removed. Jesus christ what a mistake, I still remember the pain now.....never, ever again......
