Day 2 - how long until the urges pass?
Ok so day 2 for me now, felt so down yesterday I knew I had to change. Sticking to it this time as I have a lovely guy in my life now and feel as though I'm strong enough to do this.
I just wondered how long the 'strong' urges last? Ive not got past day 2 in so long and always cave (know this is sort of in my head as I used to think I couldn't do any longer.)
Thanks
Rach

I semi caved at 10 days and got a non alcoholic drink. Only in the last couple of weeks have I been tapering off those.... Something has been different the last few weeks not sure but the cravings have subsided. I hope it lasts for me and I hope you see yourself through to the bigger picture good luck!
Rach, Everyone is different. Everyday day will get a little easier.
There is a great download called 30 Great Reasons to Quit Drinking Alcohol on stopdrinkingalcohol.com. It helps me to read it daily to put the the withdrawal discomforts in perspective.

It varies for everyone., I drank for a long time so for me the first 30 days were fairly rough sailing...
There's a lot of good ideas here tho:

I can honestly say that at seven months I have no urge to drink. It took awhile though. The holidays were hard.
I never thought I would get to a point where I wouldn't even think about it. I used to salivate, literally, at the thought of drinking.

Think every day that passes makes it a little easier, Rach.
Think it helps to know how you are going to deal with those urges when they come. I shouted at the voice in my head that was telling me to drink, that worked for me. And ice cream. Lots of that.
You're doing great !
