My name is Francis & this is day 21. Hello everyone. I finally decided to sign up to here, as I thought It may possibly provide some support for myself whilst I take my long but hopefully mainly enjoyable journey to everlasting sobriety. Jeez, It's been a tough few years. It took until the 31st of December 2014, for me to come to terms with my situation. I was an alcoholic out of control, seemingly on a solo mission to destruct any chance I had of a happy life. I don't drink any more. Now, for the first time, I am completely 100% committed to this effort. Since early this month, I am no longer in denial & I am attending priceless one to one therapy sessions. I am in between jobs and am currently living with my parents as I lost my job and accommodation due to the alcohol abuse. I waived the white flag to them and came clean about my addiction. I asked them for their help in housing me whilst I got my head together and sought help from any means I saw fit. I have their full support and I am eternally grateful. I will leave it there for now. I have already written more than what I though I would do. Just wanted to say Hi really...and hope your all well. Speak soon maybe:) |

Many many thanks everyone! Already feeling a fantastic special vibe here! This kind of thing is very new to me, but I'm enjoying it already. Great stuff! |
Welcome Francis! Keep reading around and chime in when you have something to share. We are all in this together and we all know where you are coming from. Good decision on raising the white flag, sometimes we gotta surrender and find support. You have for sure found it here. Are you doing anything else to bolster yourself, face to face? |

Glad you're here, Francis! :) |

Hi Francis, Good for you and well done on 21 days! More power to you! |
Hi Francis - I'm also on Day 21 - welcome |
I'll chime in as another three weeker! Welcome Francis ... good to share a birthday with ya. I am sitting here on the East Coast staring at a lovely snowy scene out my window ... thinking about all the times any amount of snow meant "let's get drunk!". Every snow day for the last 10 years was a binge drink day. But today, the fire is going, I am drinking water, and about to make dinner. And I will not drink. And it is OK. Glad to have you here with us! |
Hey lovely to meet you and fantastic well done on 21 days xx |
Greetings Francis, glad you are here. Nice post, to the point, positive, and you have a plan. YOU are set for success! |
Hello Francis, well done on 21 days - i'm on 22 (hungover New Years Eve) and am a fellow Brit Hope you find a new job soon and not just for the money but because it will occupy your mind. I'm in no position to offer advice but I do know that Hull is a Uni town and therefore quite lively (or at least it was a few years ago when I last went there) so it must be easy to have boozy social life if you are young . I think what I am saying is that avoiding certain places and certain people might be good |
