As you sober up you will possibly find your resolve thinning out a bit. The addict voice in you will begin to talk and as you level out you will start to plan drinking again and how you're going to do it. That is where your resolve must start. Then is where you need to start making a commitment.
Come back here and get some encouragement cuz you're going to need it.

don't drink and watch your detox. It can get bad if you drank for a long period of time. The ER will take you in without insurance if you have dts bad.
If that is going ok, rest, drink water and eat what you can. REST. EAT. WATER.
I look forward to talking to you sober my friend.

Speaking from day 15 of sobriety I can only say this. Put down the drink. Pour out what you have in the place. Turn on the tv or music or whatever you can. Let the hours drip away and sober up. Tell yourself that you understand you will feel like sh*t and that feeling like sh*t is OK. It's natural after what we've done. Then as you get back to feeling sober-ish, start making a plan for the new day. AA is not that hard. Find a meeting near you. Show up. You announce yourself if you get a turn, and like me and many others, you ask for phone numbers from sober alcoholics and get a temporary sponsor. The first 24 hours of not drinking was the hardest for me. 15 days later, and all I can say is that I feel good, and I don't think I could feel good any other way. I was medically supervised by my doctor and am still checking in. I did NOT get the DTs because of the medical supervision and support. Good luck to you
Vendetta here are some suggestions for you.....I recently quit after 27 years heavy drinking so I think I can help you.
Firstly - bookmark this site now. So you can find it when you sober up.
Next - Stop drinking and go to bed, if you have not done so already
When you wake up in the morning drink lots of water and eat some breakfast. Doesn't have to be mega healthy, just get a little food into you.
Then if you have struggled with DTs before or if your drinking has been very heavy go to your doctor, be very honest about how much you have been drinking. Some people experience no DTs and some people get them so badly it could kill them - its a serious matter so its better to be safe than sorry.
Next, spend the day reading this site to keep you busy and build up your knowledge in this area. Reach out to the posters that resonate with you. Just read and absorb. Many, many of us have been where you are right now and come out the other side. The support and experience here is unbelievable.
Personally, I didn't attend AA until two weeks ago. It all seemed so alien and if I am honest a little cultish. But since I started attended I have found it really useful and I love the camaraderie....AA in itself won't get me or you sober but its a very useful tool to have in your arsenal and it will go a long way to helping you recover and build a more fulfilling life. Maybe think of AA as a program to help you in recovering your life not just dropping the drink.
Over the next few days keep reading the site. Learn about what triggers your drinking and how you may be able to manage these. Learn that moderating your drinking (i.e. cutting down) will not work and that you need to stop completely. Above all look at this as a learning process and DO NOT DRINK whatever happens. This is the most important things to keep in your head now at all times.
Do not worry about what you will do with your time, do not worry about rebuilding your life or anything else. You will find that you will be much better able to handle this when you have some sober time behind you and a clear head.
I am 9 weeks into my recovery and I can assure you 100% that whatever you put into this and whatever suffering you need to endure to get sober and stay sober it is worth it. You have the rest of your life ahead of you and it will be 1000% better if you are sober.
You are here. The hard part is over.
