I found the boredom to be a real issue too. Many days in early recovery I went to bed early and threw the covers over my head 😄
Now, looking back, I'm not sure how I found time to drink. There is so much to do, even if that is just coming home and making a good dinner and puttering, taking the dogs for a walk, etc., let alone new things and old hobbies I'm getting back into.
Drinking (and getting over drinking) takes a lot of time, so it makes sense we feel a void at first. But eventually, when the not drinking feels a bit less like a white knuckling kind of a thing, that time we spent drinking can be used to tap pleasures and dreams that our drinking was drowning.
Congrats on 9 days--that is fantastic!
