When I saw the light

Hi everyone,

After a few years of almost daily drinking, I decided to turn tie and stay sober. Im on 2,5 weeks by now and am orientating myself a bit on this website to seek others' experiences on how to quit the booze.

Some of my friends are drinking more than I used to do, but clearly they don't have it causing any problems. Im a very ambitious person and have a lot of goals in my life. But the alcohol got me into a negative spiral of not attaining those goals and made it only worse. It worsened my social skills and self confidence and I don't wanna live like that!

I know when I will drink again, the circle will repeat itself and that I'll end up being depressed. I feel just so much better now and have some more perspective in my mind.

Hope the craving will get less and less soon

We can guarantee the craving will get less and less. Great job! Keep at it.

Lots you can take away from this site to make it easier.

Hi and welcome.

It’s always good to stop this alcohol spiral ASAP as it always gets worse, never better.
The sober process is simple tho not always easy.
We have to want to be sober and be honest with our self about our drinking. Then we need to accept that we cannot drink alcohol in safety. That’s it.

The majority need something structured like A LOT OF AA MEETINGS along with reading posts on this site. You’ll find out how to handle things that once baffled us and we drank over etc.

We also need to work and change the person who came here with their reasons for drinking.
It’s work but certainly worth the effort.

BE WELL

Awesome work. I, too, am a daily drinker seeking to end the cycle and cravings.
