For now Just don't pick up the first drink.
You most likely should really see your doctor first or as soon as you can to keep from having serious withdrawals.
If you are sincere and your doctor knows it, he can prescribe medication to help you detox safely and without too much anxiety or illness.
I drank Hard for the better part of the last 10 years and tried to quit on my own before. I did it but was really uncomfortable. a year ago January I saw my doctor and he prescribed meds that made me comfortable for a 7-10 day period and I was able to feel well enough to quit from there on with the help of AA.
This could be the best present you could give yourself this year. Alcoholism is progressive and I don't know where I'd be if I hadn't sought help. Wishing you the best in the days ahead.
