Crazy thoughts back again. NOT going to act on them
Crazy thoughts back again. NOT going to act on them
Simple message. 5 destructive drinking days between the time of Dec 27 - Jan 6.
Nearly 3 months sober prior to this *episode*. 1 week sober TODAY.
Crazy thought of REALLY wanting to drink is back again today.
Going to AA daily. Fully involved with the program now.
Scared.

Good call on coming here before acting on the urges FTW. Have you called your sponsor? You know exactly where drinking will lead though....play the tape through to the end and remember what the consequences will be. Urges are merely thoughts....you have the power to ignore them and not pick up a drink.
Welcome back, I found that the more you want a drink, the more desperate your AV will become, which means your detoxing fast. Way to go. Fight the urges, dont pick up and drink and enjoy being free and sober.

Findingtheway, I hear you. I have one week sober today as well and my AV is kicking around in my head today too. You know, I found that it helps to separate your "real self" from the AV. Almost like you are two different people and talk to it and tell it to shut up. You don't have to listen to what it is telling you to do. Try it ... it seems to work for me.
You can fight through it. You can. Hugs to you. .

Good jog, Finding, coming here to discuss your thoughts. I am so proud.
You can turn those thoughts around into the enthusiasm I have seen you exhibit in sobriety.
Play the tape forward. Read andvre-read the lists you compiled several days ago.
You can do this. You KNOW you can.

That dam mental obsession just about drove me nuts!!
Well...nutser!!!
I was friggin scared outta my mind. I was completely afraid I would pick up a drink. And one of the promises of the program happened as a result of working the steps:
And we have ceased fighting anything or anyone - even alcohol. For by this time sanity will have returned. We will seldom be interested in liquor. If tempted, we recoil from it as from a hot flame. We react sanely and normally, and we will find that this has happened automatically. We will see that our new attitude toward liquor has been given us without any thought or effort on our part. It just comes! That is the miracle of it. We are not fighting it, neither are we avoiding temptation. We feel as though we had been placed in a position of neutrality - safe and protected. We have not even sworn off. Instead, the problem has been removed. It does not exist for us. We are neither cocky nor are we afraid. That is our experience. That is how we react so long as we keep in fit spiritual condition.
it can take time for the mental obsession to leave, but working the steps will do it. And that fear ya have? It can be a good thing. Tells me ya were in a pretty bad place when ya got here and ya got it from her head to yer heart it ain't gonna get any better if ya drink.
Keep goin to meetings
Get a big book and a sponsor
the big book works better if ya read it and do what it says over using it as a coaster, too
If ya don't have phone numbers, get some and use em. Don't be afraid to call people in recovery!!!
It WILL get better IF ya work for it
Getting sober was the hardest thing I EVER did. It was the hardest fight I ever put up
Staying sober has bee easy.
Well worth every second of fight.
Findingtheway, do you remember how the cravings were with all your sobriety before you relapsed? If you start again, the cravings you are experiencing today will be back there tomorrow. Keep on remembering why you got sober.
Hang in there!
Hang in there!
Crazy thoughts are crazy thoughts...I think all of us got a little cuckoo with our addiction...
but it's up to us whether they stay as harmless thoughts...or transform into harmful action.
I really believe you can do this findingtheway. Be true.
