A lighthearted thread...
A lighthearted thread...
I have kept 10 beers in the fridge since I quit in November..
My wife keeps asking why I keep them there and asking if I want her to throw them away..
I just smirk and say "Nooo , their for a special occasion!"
My wife despises "the can" with good reason , so she is under the impression that an occasion is going to come up and I am gonna suck those down faster than a hoover can suck lint chunks...
Ahhh , but here's the thing...Tomorrow is the occasion....I have a day off , and own a semiauto CO2 pellet rifle , among others...
So the occasion is to see how many shots it takes for her to explode 10 shaken up Natty Light cans in the backyard...
If yer gonna get rid of it , might as well have her get some stress relief from it redneck style....

me too, and still better than her having a perfect shot at your butt for stressing her out with your "special occasion".
I know it is a light hearted thread but unless you have been in a relationship with an active alcoholic you have no idea how much stress and anxiety those 10 cans probably cause her.

When I returned home from my 28 day
rehab stay, all alcohol was already removed
from the house so that there would be no
temptation around as I began living a
recovery life.
All those early days in recovery were not
even a drop of water in a bucket as it was
explained to me. Not one drop because I
hadn't accumulated enough sober experiences
in recovery just yet.
I had not distant myself far enough from
my last drink. Even if I was just 28 days.
Im glad alcohol was not around me because
in early recovery I was, like many, all over
the place with emotions. A roller coaster of
ups and downs and if I was at a down moment
then a good cold bottle of wine wouldn't have
been wasted one more day in the refrigerator.
I learned that I drank for all sorts of reasons
whether they were good or bad, I enjoyed my
poison. Yet I eventually realized that that poison
loved to keep me in my addiction. Always wanting
it even as bad as I felt.
I don't take delight or pleasure in alcohol
today. Addiction is serious as it affects so
many in life today. It's not a humorous subject
or a toy to play with. It's not a cartoon to
laugh at and is definitely not a joke.
There are many lessons to learn in recovery
and once I learned them, then I am able to
pass on those teachings to others struggling
with addiction.
Stay strong and invested in your recovery
to live each day sober, healthy, happy and
honest.

I'm glad you care so much about your wife's feelingS to smirk at her and don't care if she despises them being there.
all the sh*t you've put your wife through over your time together, don't you think yu could start today at not being selfish and self centered and just dump em it now?

Your wife probably knows you, knows your sense of humor, and knows the great joy of shooting exploding cans of stuff--and probably will bonk you over the head then be relieved that this is your "big plan" for the beer!
Never once was someone relieved that my childish actions were over because it was always," what next?"
But I have been thumped over the head and other parts of the Body for em.
I deserved it.

Tom , you obviously do not know my wife... lol ..If she could take a sledge hammer to the "cans" she would.... Trust me , we never do anything small at our house...If we are going to dump something , especially something of frustration , it is usually going to get blasted or destroyed in the process...
Have fun ya'll...Happy Hump Day!

I've been on both sides of the equation.
But good luck with it.
Sounds rather dis functional to me.
