First night out

Went to a bar tonight to get a fish fry.Had all those bottles looking at me, 5 different beers on tap but was happy to have a diet soda.I even told the owner that I quit drinking, I had been a very good customer at his bar but he totally understood where I was coming from.I'm 12 days sober & have no trouble telling family & friends that I'm done with alcohol. It's so helpful to have have their support.I like my new life a lot. Also had a 3 1/2 hour visit with my sister who hadn't spoken to me for 10 yrs.We got back together last year & it's wonderful, even she said "we picked right where we left off".I am a happy, sober guy tonight.

That's wonderful headcase. It feels so good to get free and reclaim our lives. 12 days is a great achievement, and it'll keep getting better.

Great job on tonight. However, I would not make a habit of going to bars when you are still early in recovery. Temptation won me over... and I had to restart. almost 4 weeks.

Good to hear. I'm glad I confronted the bar early on as well because when it ended up being no big thing, it was a relief.
