Dang.

I have a knee injury from a fall at work and it just wont get better. I hurt it back in the spring and I still have sever joint effusion (swelling) and I still can't bend it right and it just hurts ALL the damn time.... I saw my specialist this morning and he's sending me to see a surgeon. I'm terrified of the knife and worried about how I'll support my family if I have to be off work again. I just feel all stressed out and anxious..... this is the kind of **** I used to drink about. I'm not going to drink. I'm not going to drink. I'm not going to drink. Lol.

I'm sorry your injury isn't healing. That must be distressing.

I hope that surgery will give you a pain-free life with your knee healed.

Thank you Anna. I feel better just from writing it down that I'm stressed out. Having a club soda and the anxiety is passing.

Great job staying strong, drinking woudn't help anyway of course. Not sure what the laws are in Canada, but here if you are injured at work your employer has to make accomodations and in some cases offer an alternative job until such time as you can heal. Workman's comp is also a possibility if you cannot work at all.

Scott. The crooks at WSIB declined my claim... I'm fighting it. And I'm already on modified at work... the worry is that with surgery I won't even be able to do the modified duties.... Fak. I guess I'll cross these bridges when I get to them, there's not point in ruining today over tomorrows worries. I haven't even seen the surgeon yet haha. When I saw the doc this morning he told me that he just doesn't know what to do anymore!! Seriously that's what the specialist said... that he doesn't know. Every treatment he's tried hasn't helped.... the injury is the same as it was back in May. It's frustrating to always be in pain and get screwed by WSIB and not have any easy solutions. But such is life. No one said it would be easy.

Had to look up WSIB. I'm in the US so it may be different, but my experience with insurance companies, albeit not work related, has been that often they turn down claims that are legitimate because they know that only a certain portion of policy holders will fight. Every time I filed a health insurance claim it was 100% legit and while it took time, phone calls, and letters I was made whole in EVERY single situation. Make sure you have the proper documentation and don't be timid about having your interactions move up the management chain. IOW, don't take a no from someone who doesn't have the authority to give you a yes. I hope it works out for you.

Ugh... insurance companies and the WORST!! I've been in the fog of alcoholism so I haven't been as on top of things as I should be... but now that I'm sober that's going to change. I've all the paper work out right now and I'm going to do whatever I can to make this right or at least be able to live with the fact that I gave it my best. Time kinda gets away from you when you're drunk all the time haha

Good for you. Presenting the facts in a calm professional manner will go a long way.

In this sentence I should have added what's in bold. Every time I filed a health insurance claim it was 100% legit and while it took time, phone calls, and letters I was made whole in EVERY single situation in which I was denied coverage.

It can be a PIA, but the stakes are high so do what you need to.

Zen if you disagree with the decision, and I know you do, there's a very big upside and no down side other than an investment of time in taking secondary action. Get your documentation in order and use whatever resources are available such as your doctor's records, your company's HR records that led to your workplace accommodations, etc.

You're right the stakes are high and I think I can win... I have all kinds of medical reports to back me up and I did everything right at work and my employer has never questioned what happened, they will back me up. As will my doctor. WSIB shouldn't be allowed to get away with screwing me. Especially since this injury is going to affect me for the rest of my life, I really damaged my knee. Time to put my affairs in order.

Sorry for your pain zenchaser. I'm dealing with a similar issue, having hurt my foot back in March of 2014... Hosp & X-rays diagnosed it as a sprain, when it didn't get better, more X-rays and my orthopedic diagnosed it as a sprain until an MRI revealed a fracture. I spent 4 months walking on it thinking it was sprained, and then 4 months in a walking boot before surgery to finally repair it. Guess what? 7 weeks post op... I'm still in the same pain! I will not drink over it though so thanks for the reminder. I hope you feel better soon and have some relief.
