Day Three and I made it!
Yesterday was a tough day for me with emotional ups and downs and too much stress in the morning with work and once that happens, it tends to follow me throughout the day.
It was pretty touch and go there as my AV was chattering in my head all day and when I got home from work, it seemed like any little thing could set me off and make me go and drink.
But I remembered what AA says about being a control freak (that's me!) and realized I wasn't in control of the world, I also spoke to my AV all day in my head and realized I could separate my AV from my real self. Combined this with a warm bath in the evening as I tried to calm down and destress and meditating in the bathtub too. Then a call with my mother that was also getting me a bit worked up and another bout of meditation after that because I felt like I needed it.
Anyhow ... I made it! Whew!
I woke up this morning slightly afraid, not remembering right away whether or not I gave in to the drink ... waiting for the inevitable hangover and to wake up feeling like cr*p, but then when I finally did fully, I remembered ... I DIDN'T GIVE IN AND DRINK LAST NIGHT!
Just wanted to share with everyone. On to Day 4 today.

And for any newcomers like me that are just starting, I wanted to add that it took a combination of several things to make it through the day and it may for you too.
The things I used to stay sober yesterday:
AA
Talking to my AV like it is "separate" from the real me
Hot bath
2 rounds of meditation
Hope this helps someone who is struggling ....

That's great on day 4. I'm happy to be on day 4 with you as well.

And keep learning. From what i've experienced we need to take day to day action with this. It's not easy. But it is worth it.

Hi Cecilia,
I survived my third sober day in three years today. I,m feeling very wobbly. I love your idea of the bath and meditation. Although I dont know how to meditate its on my list of things to learn. I,m going an AA meeting tonight but Im really nervous as the last meeting i went to was two years ago.
