Welcome back! I heard something that really helped me "get through" Christmas.
A sponsor was asking their sponsee if they drank last Thursday...answer was no..."how about the Thursday before that?" "no"...."the Thursday before that?" "no"....
"So why would you drink this Thursday? You don't drink on Thursdays. Just think of Christmas as 'Thursday', and keep reminding yourself that its just 'a Thursday'...a day you don't drink"
I think I will be inserting "Thursday /Christmas" for all the upcoming celebrations my first sober year, hopefully that will help and take all the romantic notions that drinking brings to them.
