What to take for aches/pain?

Still sober. Day 18.

Lately, I have had pain in my upper back/neck when I wake up.

Trying to figure out what is best to take for the pain. Aspirin or Tylenol? Trying to take something that minimizes any further damage to my liver.

Any recommendations?

Suzie, I do know that Tylenol is very hard on the liver.... Why not check with a pharmacist or doctor?

You could try topical ibuprofen gel. As an (out of shape) runner that's my go to for any muscular aches and pains. Worked very well on shin splints.

Yeah, ask your doctor. Tell them your history, honestly.

Thanks everyone. I googled and decided to take 2 aspirin.

Funny, when I was drinking I NEVER had aches and pains. Since I quit, realizing that my body is no longer that 17 year old I was when I started drinking. 20 years older and aches/pains galore..

Hi Suzieq, I had aches and pains all over for about six weeks, especially at night. I felt like I was falling apart. At about 60 days they diminished and are almost gone now. I hope yors are also temporary.

Hi Susie Q like everyone said ask dr or a pharmacist. I've had chronic pain this year due to a rotator cuff injury that created lots of muscle issues, neck especially. I stayed away from pain meds and ibuprofen helps a lot. Tylenol is bad for liver and aspirin is not great over long haul due to stomach issues it can cause, unless your dr directs you.
With that said any meds over long duration aren't great. Lol. Just tell dr how you feel and I hope all your pain goes away ASAP!!!

Hi Suzie,Plain old aspirin has many good properties,It works good for me but if you have health concerns check with a doctor.Another idea is to replace alcohol with fitness. Why not start walking? We all seem to have a little extra weight in this day & age,the body feels better when it's in good shape.Good Luck.
