Day 1... Let's Do It Again !

Sooner or later (I hope sooner as in THIS one)... one of my quits has GOTTA stick !...for good and forever.

Most of you know I had a falling off the wagon in early November after 5 months. Since then it's been everyday drinking right back into my old routine. Only took 1 week. Just that quick.

Now...two months (almost to the day) later I finally get my head wrapped around the sobriety thing and give it another shot. It took that long ! I had made some changes however and have a more positive plan in place.

I dont care to go into the details of the program right now. What I do know is somethings needed to be addressed and worked on for my sobriety to stick. In a nutshell I'am using bits and pices from all the popular and well known programs out there with a crash course in CBT. So far I'am seeing progress.

Kinda putting the cart before the horse, right? In addressing some underlying issuse's that were triggers and compelled me to drink, I feel much more confident in my chances of success this time. I'am learning what those are and looking at them from a different point of view. It helps tremendously.

I've learned a lot but still have a lot more to learn and a long way to go.

Being comfortable in, and working my recovery, I feel, makes it a whole lot easier to quit the drink.

More to come later.

My last quit stuck Dave. I'd been drinking for decades. I was finally exhausted from trying to be a social drinker. It was never fun anymore - only brought me misery and danger. It was much easier to let go of it & stay safe and sane. You can do it Dave. I know this because I now have almost 7 yrs. :) Let's go!

Thanks Hevyn. I too know for a fact I cannot moderate. Never been able to...never will.

I want to stop the madness. Simple as that...but not that easy.

7 years is awesome!

I often wonder, when people start a thread with something like," let's do this again."
Let's- let US
Again- the me part of us decided a while ago I would do whatever I had to do to get sober, so the me part of us doesn't have to do it again.

Dave, today you have a choice- keep doing the same things over and over expecting different results or Do the same things over and over knowing the results will be the same( both definitions of insanity)
Or
Start doing something different because what youve been doing....doesn't read like its been workin too good.

So,what's your choice? Gonna do everything different this time?

Gettin sober wasn't easy. It was the hardest thing I have EVER done.
Stayin sober has been easy, but it required a LOT of changing of me.
Well worth it,too!

Please don't beat yourself up for "taking so long"... many people live the rest of their lives not even trying once. You can do this, I know you can. You have it in you.... wish you the best :)
