Question
Hello all! Been reading all your posts today-thanks for the encouraging words! I am on day 5 and feel horrible today- brain dog/dizzy tiredetc. I think that is normal right? Wish it would go away, if only I could sleep then I might be able to deal with it.
The other thing is before I decided to quit I developed a weird skin allergy to something unknown and the doctor calls it "dermatitis". I itch all over and it's so bad at night I can't sleep, so doctor told me to take Benadryl. Do u think that's ok? It's seriously the only way I can sleep. One night I was up until 6 am....

Day 5 is fantastic!!
I was pretty out of it for the first few weeks, similar to almost jet lag, keep pushing through though as it gets better, the body needs more than a few days to heal and repair years worth of drinking!!
Hang in there!!

I would take it.
If you get too tired from lack of sleep and grumpy, it might make you relapse and that would be worse.
If you think the tablets might become a problem after trying them, I would see your doctor again. There are non drowsy alternatives.
Perhaps a soak in a bath with some baking soda sprinkled in too?
That helps with itchy skin.
I wish you the best xx

I definitely experienced the brain-fog and fatigue, leharris.
Sleep can be problematic in early sobriety; I can only imagine that an itchy dermatitis would compound the problem. As for the benadryl, I would trust your doctor.
Hang in; things will get better with time.
Congratulations on day 5!!!!

Congrats lee Harris! I'm on day 5 too. I felt really tired as well and took a 2-1/2 hr nap today. Hoping that doesn't wreck sleep tonight. Oh well!
I think Benadryl is fine. Are you worried to get used to taking or not happy it makes you tired? It will help your itch for sure and help you sleep I guess?
Are you taking multivitamin too? Asking because of stopping drinking and all the changes happening. It can only help.
Hope you gave a great night and see you in day 6!!!!!

I had dermatitis once and took a shot of apple
Cider vinegar with turmeric every morn and went gluten free ( except booze) haha. Anyway that helped. I don't suggest going gluten free right now but the apple cider vinegar is a great all round tonic for everyone for so many reasons. Good luck

Glad you're here!!
The rule of thumb I take with Doc is - since I have disclosed my disease to him fully, I simply follow his orders.
As an alcoholic, this doesn't always come naturally
Oatmeal bath! Buy it at any drug store......
