let down by who? by what?
i blamed life and "others" letting me down, and of course they do, but not as much as i let myself down. which was where the problem sat. with me. and my expectations. of life, others and myself.
and how easy it is to be justifiably feeling let down or angry or disappointed or hopeless over others' imperfections.
they all have them! damn! life is full of imperfections!

what i really couldn't accept were my own. accept that i have them and that i can change some and that no matter how much i change i'll still have them.

you're at a loss. yes. you know it. good.

i knew it when i was drinking. and then thought that quitting would fix that.
it didn't; still at a loss after i quit. still no 'meaning'. nothing filling. never mind "full-filling".

the opening to that has required staying sober and being willing to sit with the imperfections. integrate the human-ness of that. be willing to stay "at a loss" and look and see what others do, how they did it and how various stuff panned out for them.

sorry, Gabriella, i've found no easier or faster way to tell you about.
glad to see you posting and looking again/still.

But still no sign of anything I really need to make my life have meaning. I'm sick of failing job interviews.

I only drink because I am at a 'loss'. I have no one to love, no one to feel responsible for, no nothing to be entitled to. And I am none of those things to anyone else.
The question is are you ready to stop and put a plan in place to help you acheive sustained sobriety

Gab your not happy drinking but you are addicted and your also my friend who i remember trying to stay sober

Gabrielle,
getting sober, staying sober, finding/making/needing/looking for/ whatever 'meaning', learning "how to" as far as taking care of ourselves and our needs, finding ways of connecting and getting away from "i'm the only one and no-one understands" and sitting with our imperfections and opening to taking small steps into new directions....NONE of this requires being a mother or being able to be a mother.

it sounds like you keep looking for what blocks you. and i think it's valuable to know my blocks. in fact, it's necessary.
but the point that comes along with that is to find or get help finding the ways to get past the blocks.
we all have them, you know?
nevertheless we can go on and find/make better lives.

it might help if you started a list of what you CAN do and go from there.

Gabrielle,
anything to add to the determination?
that by itself never did the trick for me.
tried that route a gazillion times.
adding actions made a lot of difference.
actions and others.

Can anybody help me please? Chat won't let me in for some reason, and I've never had any issues with it before. I just reinstalled Java, to attempt to combat the problem but a big red exclamation mark keeps appearing with 'Certificate has been revoked. The application will not be executed'. Is there currently a problem with chat or is it my dumb laptop having another of it's hissy fits?

Day 6

If Java correctly installed. Close the browser completely and then open it back up. When getting to SR accept any add on to enable the chat room.

There's actually been a few changes made to my laptop recently; it no longer allows me to do a 'system restore' as there are no dates left on the list, also the option to check the hard drive has somehow been deleted.

Gab read here I had trouble today too. I updated my java, shut down and was able to get in Chat. However, this seems to be a server issue.

Hi Gabrielle. I used to tell myself I didn't have a problem, but then, by the time I realised, it was a problem, a very big one! The fact that you are here is great. Take my advice, read chapter 3 of the big book of AA and then decide if you have a problem.
We are all rooting for you!
