I am doing it.
I am doing it.
Hi all. I haven't posted in a while, I just wanted to update on my progress. I am working on day 11 alcohol free. Its been a long time since I could say that!
I didn't struggle as much as I thought I was over New Year's, I think the main reason was because I still felt so horrible. I took advice from many of you off of here and saw a doc about my blood pressure. Meds were prescribed, I hate taking them but they do seem to be working. I just am hopeful that with abstaining from drinking my BP will go down and I can get off of these.
My wife has not been very supportive of my choice to quit drinking. I think she misses me drinking beer with her (she doesn't drink nearly like I do) I am hoping with time this adjusts. I don't think she knows the severity of how bad I was feeling. I hid that pretty well. I have told her, I just don't think it sunk in yet.
I am finding one thing that is helping me when cravings hit. I downloaded a sobriety app that tracks days, minutes, beers not consumed etc. When I get the urge I look at this it helps along with reading on sober recovery. I know this sounds weird but I will take whatever helps.
Well, I wish everybody the best and thanks all for helping me in the very early stages of my sobriety!

Congrats on eleven days, Krisinwi.
Sorry your wife isn't on board yet with your sobriety; she will get used to the new you in no time.
Keep on. Thanks for letting us know how you are doing. Hope you stop by more often.

Well done on 11 days sober krisinwi & on seeing a doc thats awesome
its good you had talk with the wife but if she is missing drinking with you then maybe you should be 100% clear on this because its one thing shes drinking around you in early sobriety but to say she misses you drinking after youve had the talk suggests something else
your doing really well you have 24h support with your friends here at SR
keep up the good work bud
