Country music is driving me nuts!

Why does every song have to do with alcohol? God and so many of them are about drinking and driving on back roads..... I only have a radio in my work truck so it's that or silence as nothing else comes in..... On the flip side I'm about wearing out my Jason Isbell Southeastern Cd in my personal vehicle. If there is one person who is helping me keep sober it's Him. Only someone who has been where we are can write songs like that...

LOl. I know what you mean, as this song has been popping into my head for the past week or so…

Had a hard time finding the name of it, all I hear is 'Alcohol'. I don't even like that song tbh

Turn off the radio and sing a song of your own or take in the scenery. There are references to alcohol just about everywhere, but I think our addiction seeks them out early on. They are just words in the end though, so you can turn it off if your mind can't tune them out.

No kidding!!!!!!

2014 was the Year of Country Music Drinking Songs.

trachemys 01-03-2015 07:03 AM

Carry a song in your heart. Load up your mind at home and replay when out.

upminer 01-03-2015 07:08 AM

Maybe that's exactly it maybe I'm seeking that message out... I do carry songs with me throughout my day I listen to this one a few times a week the message is undeniable I just need to figure out if the "someone" I was meant for is my current wife or someone in the future....http://m.youtube.com/watch?v=WdwnGG29Upw

I would rather listen to dogs barking then country music.

LBrain 01-03-2015 07:36 AM

country music drove me nuts before I ever imagined quitting drinking

upminer 01-03-2015 07:41 AM

Yeah I'm gettig to that point... I only get 2 stations on company property and both are country

Bailey3 01-03-2015 07:46 AM

It's like listening to someone drag there fingernails across a chalkboard.

Ruby2 01-03-2015 07:48 AM

Too bad you are limited. I have a range of stations to listen to but I stick with talk radio and one adult/progressive/alt./whatever they want to play except pop station. Do you get am?

I went through a country music phase a long time ago and agree that the songs are peppered. With alcohol references. But so are many other songs. I used to turn off the radio on road trips and think while I was driving. It was uncomfortable at first but eventually I grew to like it.

Spacegoat 01-03-2015 07:55 AM

LOl at the lot of ye. What about the different strokes for different folks? In saying that, I been trying to find an ace country song to prove ye all wrong - Not having much success...

Disco was where its at!!

LBrain 01-03-2015 08:55 AM

the perfect country and western song.

trachemys 01-03-2015 09:07 AM

I've been to a DAC show. HMMOG what a trainwreck! They actually have to turn the stage volume up to be heard when playing this song. It THUNDERS!

Spacegoat 01-03-2015 09:13 AM

I went through the Rolling Stone top 100 country songs of all time list earlier. Meh, here is my pick

She played a UK date last year... Bit unfair of Glastonbury to put her on at 5pm of a Sunday, given her strict working hours...

leviathan 01-03-2015 10:03 AM

jason isbell-good.

"new"country-bad.

the new country right now is in a drawn-out phase that would suggest alcohol was just invented. i remember my first beer... shees!

upminer 01-03-2015 10:09 AM

Even when I was drinking I would just listen to that stuff and be like d.u.i much? Any place we went off pavement there was a good chance of the sheriffs being out growing up lol

"Thank god their taxing this sh*t man, or we'd be doing donuts in a wheat field right night now" -Bill Hicks

Sorry but I couldn't resist, lol

I don't know if you have a smartphone that works on your property, but you might be able to get Pandora or something so you can listen to whatever kind of radio you want. I know how it is, though, I great up in the country where we got barely any reception of TV or radio.

Right now the problem for me is my coworkers. Their desks are all around me, and they talk about drinking all day long. I have started listening to music just to drown it out.
