Dead End x2
Dead End x2
I fell again on Xmas Eve.
1 month to the date.
My story is so absurd, I don't blame any of you
for doubting me, or thinking I'm crazy.
Home from work, 5:00 pm 12/24/14.
Company arrives at 6:00 pm.
No problem, make everyone (8 folks) their one
and only drink for the night.
Make Dad his vodka on the rocks.
Place his drink next to my Fresca (diet soda).
In the confusion of entertaining, I take
a HUGE swig of my diet soda. TILT! TILT! TILT!
It was Dad's vodka.
I didn't stop.
Thank you for listening.
I just wanted to be accountable and come clean.

Heck, 2 weeks to the day of my quit I got my son dressed, warmed up the truck, drove to the store to buy a beer. I made all that effort to fail. I stood there for over 10 minutes staring at the cooler weighing the option of a tall boy or a 40 or just a 6 pack so I go beer or malt liquor or.......then something just snapped in my head and I saw the NA beer and grabbed it and got the heck out of there.... That decision that day saved me and every day since I've built my sobriety.... So I know how it is to get there I could have easily bought a beer that night I made the effort.
Happy New Year, lunar.
When we fall, there is really only one good and viable option and you are doing that by being accountable and honest and by re-committing to sobriety.
That's how powerful addiction can be; even an inadvertent taste can wake the beast. I'm sure you have already thought of it but having a glass that is uniquely yours to use would be helpful.
Glad you are back, lunar.

I'm sorry that happened to you. If it'd been me, I would have puked.
After the alcohol gets out of your system for a long while, that's been my reaction. So, obviously, I've been in your shoes many times.
Best to you on starting over. You can do it.

No, no, no. No this isn't a dead end. A dead end the way you are using it implies that you are sitting there staring straight forward with no recourse. That you stay stuck in place with no place to go.
It happened but it's not a dead end. Back up, turn around, and find the road you need to be on. You are back here. That's a start. Maybe next time have someone else pour the drinks. Or forego hosting for a while. Double down and do it. You can, you know!
