Ready to fall off the wagon, need some help.
I'm not very good at giving advice to people right now but I am always a giving person. So it seems like I'm here when I need help. Tomorrow morning at 8:00 will be 21 days if I don't fall. I'm feeling the depression bad again after some of my worst holidays ever. I just know a few drinks will numb the pain for now.
Hang on, daveycrockett; the urges and cravings will pass.
Drinking provides a fleeting and temporary 'reprieve' but invariably ensures regret, anxiety, worsened depression and hangovers which last well beyond any 'reprieve'.
You can do this, dc; you have 21 days to prove it.

Put on your PJs, and if you have any alcohol in the house dump it. Then hang in there and maybe read Stories of Recovery so you have something to look forward to.

In 50 minute, there should be a Recovery Meeting in the chat room. I hope you will attend.

Crockett, you got this man. We are all here with you.
We're having a meeting in about 50 minutes in the chat room. I plan on being there, why dont you join us? Many of us are having rough holidays, trust me on this.
I hope you do!

Thanks for posting- nice to see a fellow New Englander here!
Holidays can be tough for many for a bunch of reasons. And, the fact that you're nearly 21 days is tremendous and underscores your commitment.
Lets do this together! You have a number of really great folks with great ideas and experiences behind you. How can we help?

I hope you choose not to drink Davey. I'm sorry to hear you had a rough holiday. I know how you feel because part of mine was rough too. Drinking won't help anything. You will feel worse tomorrow. :-( Thinking of you...
Bad holidays are nothing to drink over...they've past. And drinking won't change what happened. But sobriety can go a long way in improving the holidays a year from now.

Strategies that work for one person sometimes don't "connect" with another. Since there are a bunch of us pulling for you I bet someone will have some advice that will really resonate!
Can you give us a little more insight into your situation?

Yes, DC! Way to post. We all 'get it' here. Tote your laptop everywhere with you and stay logged in. Make sure you are well hydrated with water. Eat some toast. Or ice-cream if you have it. Trach here on SR is really pro ice-cream and he's right. It works! You will get through the night and feel like a million bucks in the morning. Visualize it. Talk it out with the peeps in the Friday meet. You've got this.
