my new years resolution: can you guess?!
my new years resolution: can you guess?!
i have tried before to quit beer but the longest i have actually managed is 3 days. that's because when i say 'i will quit on Monday', i can easily modify it...'well, its Monday, but i have 6 beers in the cupboard so i will drink those tonight and quit tomorrow.'
the list of excuses is endless. there is always another Monday, another tomorrow, they come around so quickly and often.
but new year...that only comes once a year and i am determined to see the next new year as a sober being.
i remember last Christmas-i was totally drunk and just gazing out of my living room window thinking about how disgusting i felt, how sick i was, how tired i was, i felt like i was falling apart. another night drunk, another YEAR drunk. shocking.
so i'm going to give it my best shot, always stay positive and if there are any slips i will not to feel too guilty, i will just pick myself up and carry on.
just wanted to say all that so it seems more real etc. commitment.
this obviously means that i haven't had any alcohol tonight. 1 night-yay!

Happy New Year!
Your story seems so similar to mine, I ALWAYS had back ups around, ready for me to be drunk again. I made the decision at least a month ago to quit today, I made up my mind and I am committed to it. The thing that got me every time thinking, 'oh I can try again tomorrow" is that sometimes, you don't get one. and I want to make sure there is nothing with in my control that could make that happen. I control me, you control you and you are brave and strong. Keep it up! DAY 2 tomorrow!!!

Do or do not, there is no try. But know many are on the same journey as you and like to discuss our travels here. There is no failure here, only trying to live better.
