72 days today

Not that it's a particularly poignant mile stone but thought I'd post today.

Been on anti depressants for 2 weeks now, no real signs they are working which is disappointing me as I want to get back to work as soon as I can. Anxiety is still a pain.

Hello to everyone on the forum today, hope your finding peace with your sobriety journeys

Congrats on 72 days Stewy.

This may or may not be germane, but I remember my Dr telling me I may not see changes for a month or more on anti-ds.

Thanks soberwolf,

Yes as Dee said, probably more around a month. I spoke to a local therapy team today and they even advised 6 weeks so got to be patient.

In the meantime I'm going to keep busy and plan day to day. I may try the journal yes it sounds a good idea

Congrats on 72 days! Yeah, I've read that antidepressants can take up to 6 weeks to take effect so I think you're making a great choice to stay patient, keep busy and plan day to day. The time will go quicker if you do those things.

72 days may not be a "poignant" milestone but it is fantastic! I'm sorry you are having anxiety still, but as others pointed out antidepressants take a while to work. Are you receiving any talk therapy in addition to meds? that helps, too, because us anxiety prone folks tend to have certain thinking styles that feeds anxiety.

Stewy, 72 days is fabulous. Every sober daymis a day to be celebrated and appreciated and you have amassed 72 of them!!!

I took meds for anxiety for several years. My doctor said not ton expect immediate or dramatic results and that the positive effects would be felt and realized very gradually and very subtly. That is exactly what happened and it took about a month.

Hang in, Stewy.

I took AD's several years ago and from what I can recall, it can take up to 6-8 wks to feel the full effects. Unfortunately, for me, one of the big side effects of getting on them was a temporary increase in anxiety.

I hope you start to feel better soon.

Hi Inchworm,

I've been put on the list for CBT so I was told today, I've set an app up to review meds next week too.

Just trying to keep busy!

Thanks Soberleigh,

I'm keeping my eye on the month mark and also mindful it may be beyond that.

Staying close to family and have follow up med review at GP

Just want to get back to work and feel like myself again!

*hugs* Stewy. You should be very proud of the fact you have 72 days! That is awesome!!
I have also heard that it can take 6 wks for anti-depressants to work, so don't give up hope.

I probably didnt notice a true difference until around the 4-6 week mark. It was such a long time ago I cant remember exactly when.
