What to do with very expensive Xmas booze gifts

A $200 bottle of scotch from my team. A $140 bottle of tequila from my father in law. I'm not going to drink them. Do I re-gift?

I would just give them away to someone (friend, neighbor, mail man) ASAP for New Year's Eve. :-)

I would give them away and explain they were a gift and that you do not drink anymore.

regift if you like - or if you don't trust yourself with them in the house, or you feel morally opposed to giving booze to people, dump them.

Consider it an investment in your recovery

Sounds to me like these people bought gifts for someone else and not you (now)

If your gift givers are aware you no longer drink. Perhaps return them. Can donate the funds to a charity or something that would make you (and them) feel happy. That way the essence of a gift is not lost.

Else, certainly re-gift.

I think re-gifting is a good option. I gave away the last few bottles of good wine for Christmas. You shouldn't feel bad as long as its to somebody you know is a casual drinker. I'd say do it soon though, having alcohol in the house was not fun for me.

I re-gifted too. 'Tis the season, so it made it pretty easy to do so.

ps: of topic, but Axiom I love your quotation. Of Human Bondage is one of my favorite Maugham novels.

Re-gift them, i'm sure there are plenty of people who would appreciate it. Either that or trash them because you don't drink anymore!!

I definitely agree with regifting. I have done it myself before.
Regifting is tacky for ugly sweaters or fruitcakes not for expensive items. I am sure you know a couple of normal drinkers you are very fond of who would appreciate it.

I would give it away or pour it down the drain. Wouldn't want it anywhere near me...Best wishes.

David if someone in your area is fund raising through a raffle or an auction/silent auction these items could be put to good use.

donate them to a charity of some sort ?

give them to a family member who does drink ?

pour them down the sink ?

i guess there is lots of things you can do with them just so long as you dont drink them so get rid of them as soon as
good luck to you

My problem with regifting booze is you may be contributing to some else's addiction.

I was in the aquarium hobby. People dose their reef aquariums with vodka (long scientific explanation). That's where the rest of my vodka went

Considering your previous post, 43 days, where you spoke of dreaming of booze and craving, you can't get rid of the booze fast enough.

In that post you mentioned needing accountability. Returning the gift to the person(s) who gave them to you and telling them you no longer drink would go a long way in establishing accountability.

Anonymously or be a secret santa elf
and either place it in the donate basket
at ur local grocery store or give it to
someone who would use it in a good
way and that is not battling addiction.

Or place it in that hands of a person
you have trust in, faith in, knowledgeable,
wise to put it in responsible hands.

If im undecidcive in what to do with it,
id say a prayer asking for the right direction
and Thy Will Be Done.
