Hi all,
My name is Si, and I am 25 and have recently come across this site as I want to change my life for the best. For too long I have been having drinking issues when going out and having blackouts when I go out and drink on social events. I just want to speak to people who have a similar issue and can hopefully give me the strength to have a life with no alcohol. I have only been sober since yesterday, but I want to really do it this time. When drunk I make a fool of myself and do things that I would never do when sober. I.e rude to people in the street and messaging people on facebook with unreasonable requests. Again I would never do when sober. As many of you know the morning after is the worst. What have a I done, have i got my belongings etc.
I have been looking online for somewhere to start but with all the huge amount of information and with the depression re appearing it is hard to know where to start. AA have suggested I go to them, but I went about 2 years ago previously and would feel embarrassed to go back as would feel a failure if people see me again. As anxious I would like to try a forum to see if this would work. Appreciate if people have stayed sober from this site and would let me know what works for them.

Welcome Si25. Congratulations on your desire to love a sober life.
Try not to be too concerned about going back to AA; you will find others with experiences similar to your's.
Almost Christmas where you are!! Any sign of Santa?
Again, welcome, Si.

A very warm welcome to you, Si This is a fantastic site and it's good to have you with us.
I've been sober now for almost two years and I've done that primarily through this site - reading lots, learning lots and posting lots! I've also had some strong support at home.
Many others here have achieved long-term sobriety with AA. From what they say, I would expect you to be welcomed back with open arms. In going back to AA, you would in no way be a failure - it takes real strength to recognise a problem and choose to address it, especially at the tender age of 25. I was more than double that!
Stick with us, Si. You can turn this around.
And Merry Christmas too!
