Exclamation Stay Sober Holiday Week Here! Dec 22-28th

With Hanukkah under way and Christmas so near I thought I'd start a thread for our collective will to prevail this year.

Stay sober here this week from now until Sunday... In the early days that can seem like a very long time.

Post what you are doing... A general spot to checkin daily and more than that. Share your triumphs. What seems small to normal drinkers can be big wins for us. So speak up!

If you drink during this time you especially need to post. We will be here with a kind word and an understanding that comes from knowing.

It may be fun to post pictures of holiday scenes from your neck of the globe.. help everyone feel a little closer!

Lurkers welcomed and never discouraged!

So Happy sober Holidays everyone!

*Ring Ring*

Oh yes! I will stay sober for the week ahead, including Christmas. I will go to my local AA group tonight and my family understand that I will not be drinking at all. In fact, they are happy not to serve alcohol with any of our Christmas meals. They don't see it as a sacrifice, actually. They see it as a nice way of supporting my recovery, and encouraging a calm loving atmosphere.

Nons.... I was wondering who would get shotgun... The patman was on with you but guess he did not notice it go up!

Marcher... there are usually 5 or more shotgun seats... we have many weekend buses to fill!!! So you are IN!

Looking forward to this thread actually... I see a lot of fun for the sober team ahead... Lots of experience here to get help and support!

Off to work... I have only today and then off the rest of the week.

Off to work? Some of us are going to sleep. Have fun Ken.

BTW, it's the longest/shortest day of the year.

I'm in! I work today and tomorrow but the kids are off school so there's no morning rush, which is sort of like a vacation for me. We don't have any real plans for the holiday but it will be good to have a few days off.

It's starting off as a rainy Monday and even my dog, the normally extremely energetic Finn, is subdued.

It will be great to spend the week with everyone!

Haaaa man! I was up at 4:30 for peach sakes! Posting on another thread.

Nonsensical, my hat goes out to you, you are faster fast can be.

Great idea Weasel, might as well start preparing, I'm making sure I pack up on plenty, of patience, serenity, wisdom, etc.

Worst comes to shove, if I get a really bad urge, I'm climbing my freaking Christmas tree. So I can be the Angel at the top. LOL!

Claiming my seat. Work two days then the fun begins. Family so fraught with history and emotion! I drank on holidays to ease the stress, pretty sure I'll have a lot less stress sober this year.

S and BIL arrive Tuesday late, stay until Friday. Xmas eve, quiet with just the four of us, crab legs, drawn butter and crusty bread, cookies. Xmas, my clan, dinner at 1, son and DIL leave by 2 for her family, older brother and his family come for supper and, what else, cookies. I spend a lot of time in the kitchen, which saves me.

checked on a gift I hoped would arrive today and turns out it's out of stock, so also have to make one trip to the mall in addition to foraging for groceries. Hair appt after work today exercise class tomorrow, all manageable if I break it down. Still, my heart ramped up a bit as I took inventory of what needs to be done.

SW, expecting great blood tests!
Charlee, nice to have a week with the kids that is not packed with planned activities.
Ken thanks for starting this.
Non, Endless, Marcher, thanks for taking the best seats.

Yesterday was the longest day of the year for us. As of now, the days are getting shorter! Yippee! Less darkness!

I had a whole bunch of backordered packages arrive yesterday, so I will be wrapping and finishing up some homework today. Plus babysitting while my daughter shops. Plus my smart-aleck oldest son is flying in today on his broom!

Dear Glimmer.... I am pretty sure our days are still 24 hours long... I think you mean we had the longest night and our days will get longer... But then again... It's all in the perspective.

That glass of wine or drink is not really calling you. It has no power to jump in our hand... It's all how we see that glass... That day... That night!

just could not pass the that up! Love ya G!
