The story of my life

19th of Septembre 2014... I was in my jeep, the sun was shinning, I had my roof top completely off, I had 2 hours in front of me before getting my kids at school so I parked my jeep in the back of the grocery store near the school and I both myself 2 cans of 8.6% favorite beer.... that's 1 liter... and I was chilling, drinking the poison and feeling relaxed, the sun on my face, it was perfect... Then I went to get my kids to school (how stupid was that to drive drunk with my kids!!) but no one could figure out how I was inside my head... nothing was noticable...

They I got back home, open 2 other beers, 8.6%, one more liter... then I was feeling ok!!

I managed to have 3/4 of a bottle of wine that evening, played with my kids, having full, sipping on my poison, it was perfect... Then, to make sure I drink, Vodka came into the game... drank a good amount, don't know how much...

Hangover the next morning, of course, my kids where annoying, of course...

I was drinking like this 4 times a week... and it was slowly progressing to bigger amounts

But then I decided I needed to stop... and I found this site!

So 3 months ago was my last drinking night of my life! I swear it on all the love I have for my kids, I will never drink another drop of alcohol in my life again...

I needed to wright this down today, I need strenght, I need to succeed on my mission...

I WILL GET UP ON JANUARY 2ND AND I WILL STILL BE SOBER!

I CAN DO THIS!

THE LOVE THAT I HAVE FOR MY KIDS IS STRONGER THEN THIS ADDICTION!

There, it's out of my system, crying but feeling better!

Enjoy your sober holidays people! xx

Although I'm not as successful as you I've also used my children as motivation.

Congratulations on 3 months!

Good for you for sticking with your recovery.

The holiday season is not easy, but you can do this for yourself and your family.

Amazing job Alex, huge congratulations on three months!

I remember your early posts, and I found them really inspiring - I kind of miss your diary I was still drinking when I first read your posts, but now I'm 71 days sober and counting. Life is so much better now. Thank you, and well done

You are doing great! Isn't it amazing that we can take a good time, such as driving in a jeep on a sunny day and then ruin it all by trying to "make it even better" (drinking). I used to be the same exact way. Now we can see that the good times can remain the good times without alcohol in the picture.
