I did it.

I was craving bad tonight. I tend to be an every other day binge drinker and today is that "other day." The cravings started hitting hard this afternoon, drank some tea and sat with the thought for a while. I tend to drink a few before dinner (dinner kills the buzz, don't you know) and right as we sat down to eat I thought about it once more, got up and filled my Nalgene bottle with ice cold water. My belly is full and I know it would not only be nearly impossible to get That buzz now, but I would end up with a killer hangover, worthless on the couch in the morning, probably impatiently fussing at my children and praying for the day to be over. I played the tape through to the end more times than I could count. Now that bedtime is nearing and the craving has passed I know I will have day 2 under my belt.

One day at a time folks. Thanks for everything yall have taught me this far. I appreciate it more than yall know.

Congrats on day 2. We all learn from each other, that's for sure. As a matter of fact, I'm fairly new to the lone star state, but definitely picked the "y'all" vernacular. I guess I always thought there was an ' in the word, judging from your post, maybe not. Genuine question, albeit off topic - is there an apostrophe or not in y'all? Better topic to discuss than booze?

There is an apostrophe in "y'all," just did not think to proof read lol

Congrats! You beat the beast today. The more u do it the easier and better it gets. I could hardly get a day not alone two without being in a rehab somewhere. I found this site by accident and started reading post by people who kept relasping after only a few days or weeks. I couldn't believe the responses, they were so encouraging and full of hope and compassion. I wasn't even posting myself at that point but I took it all in like they were talking to me. So basically beating the beast on day two when you've struggling is a big deal. Keep up the good work and believe in yourself. Keep posting and reading.

No matter how hard the evening is, it always feels triumphant to go to bed sober.

Nice job. Near the end I was able to really consider the debilitating hangover the next day and weigh it against the "pleasure" of drinking. The exchange rate became way too skewed for it to be worth it one more day.

If someone asks me why I stopped drinking I can answer in one word: HANGOVERS.

Nope. Couldn't handle them anymore. They had turned into some dark, sick hell.

Good for you for playing the tape all the way through. You'll feel great tomorrow: hangover free!
