Newbie Day 4
I'm new here and have been reading the forums for a few days. I'm on Day 4. I've tried in the past to quit, and have lasted a week or two from time to time. It never lasted any longer than that because my ego kept winning and I went back to telling myself I could control it. I can't. This time is different and it has to be forever. I am very glad I found SR and other resources. I know I am not alone. Thanks for listening. Thnkfl
Welcome to a great place thnkfl. You'll find loads of encouragement and support here. I wouldn't be where I am without my friends here (almost 7 yrs sober). Talking thing over with people who really understand makes all the difference.
Great work and keep at it. I've found that letting go of the illusion that someday I control "control it" was incredibly liberating. Whether it is a disease, allergy, character defect, whatever - doesn't matter - it is making the decision to live free of something that holds all of us back from fulfilling our true potential as human beings that is what matters.
