New today and a bit worried
I have been a drinker since I was 16. I'm now 43. The only long stretches of being alcohol free were when I was pregnant with all 4 of my children. Then after their births I would end up easing back into drinking until it was an every weekend thing.
For the last 3 months I had been drinking at least 3-4 nights a week. Then last week it was pretty much hard liquor and soda water every night before I went to bed.
That was 6 days ago and I haven't had a drink since, but I have had horrible itchy/burny skin that comes and goes, occasional stomach cramps, some dull aching a few times a day where my liver would be, lightheaded, and when I just used the bathroom my stool looked a bit light, almost cream colored. (sorry too much info). I'm not jaundiced but I am worried about my symptoms.
Have any of you experienced these and had everything turn out ok? I had liver testing done a year ago and everything was great, but I'm hoping this last 8 months of drinking and that recent binge didn't just really screw up my liver.

Welcome, 71Daisies, to SR; glad you found us.
Why not schedule a visit with your doctor to answer your questions and concerns; he/she is the only one who can answer those questions with any accuracy.
Congratulations on six days; you are giving yourself a great gift by pursuing sobriety.

Hi
I'm new here too. Well done on being 6 days down the path. I've had all the symptoms you describe and during medical tests a couple of months back everything was fine - and that was while I was around 15 months into drinking a lot almost daily.
I don't know but would think it is your body 'straightening itself out' x

Thanks for the replies! It's probably going to take a while for my body to fix itself. It was so easy not to drink when I was pregnant. If I could only trick my mind to thinking I was preggo all the time I would forever be sober.

if not best to see your doctor -- while still not drinking
MM
Congrats 71Daisies...6 days is a solid start. I went cold turkey and had quite a few acute withdrawal problems (light stools, shakes, brain zaps, general feelings of being unwell, etc...) that did pass after a few weeks.
Agree that a trip to your doc would be a good idea.

And one thing, even if your results come back aok, stopping for good is the best thing you can do. I had tests done way back, and I took the results as a green card for drinking, because my AV had the ammo to convince me my drinking wast not that bad.
Rock on!

Welcome Daisies - I'm so glad you joined us.
I had most of those things. I definitely remember the itchy skin & creepy-crawly feeling that went with it. Odd aches and pains - as my body tried to come back to life. Everything got better.
