Sponsorship
Sponsorship
Raised my hand for a sponsor at a meeting last night and got one. Now what? I plan on giving her a call later, but the fact of the matter is that I'm very shy, very newly sober and kind of scared.
Baby steps, though, right? Just make the call.

GOOD FOR YOU!
Try to remember a sponsor is like a guide in a particular part of our lives. They’ve been there and are helped as much or more than the sponsoree.
The big thing is to use your sponsor for your guide or when we just have a need to talk things over.
BE WELL

The phone won't bite you.. Swear!
Honestly i get the fear/shyness. She'll be there to help you.
Getting out of my own comfort space and getting a sponsor to work the steps and check in with daily has helped me ALOT.
Make the call.

This is BAMF calling to say hi: still kicking and not drinking
Great work. My sponsor was clear about me getting in contact with him EVERY day. Doesn't need to be a long drawn out conversation...Just a few minutes to check in, usually on my way into the office.
It's gone from there, to working on the steps...Meeting every week for 1 hour before an AA meeting we both go to.
If i have something that has come up, or i need to talk/ask about i don't hesitate for one second to call him.
That's what they are there for. To HELP.
It's made quite the difference for me. Really has.

It is not about BAMF is an awful person full of defects (which you are not) but about hmmm so this is how I set myself up.
Anyway, baby steps Your sponsor will probably want to work on 1 through 3 with you first
Just call. She or he will know what to do or say because their sponsor taught them.
I'm shy too, I'm trying to get over it... Progress is slow but can you believe that I now call at least one person a day who is not my sponsor or sponsee (someone asked me to sponsor) and it isn't that bad.'lol you can do this.
ETA, don't worry about those steps. You have time before you do them, and they aren't that bad, really.

It brought up alot from my younger years and such...Painful maybe...But it helped me to let go of alot of what i was holding on to...it was FREEING to allow another human being into my inner most feelings/etc..
Don't be afraid of it.
Just focus on what is right in front of you. That stuff is a bit down the road.
