The ELUSIVE day 5!
Way to go!
I found day five to be hard, too...the reality is setting in...not just the physical stuff, but more emotional awareness...hypersensitivity to everything, and the stark realizations of the messes we've made.
Keep pushing on, hangover free mornings are so worth it!

Thanks Purpleknight! Youve been rooting me on the entire time! I have completed day 5! I am starting to feel a little better...just anxious and racing thoughts.
I went to another AA meeting today and it was really good. I also met a few more really nice people and exchanged numbers.
I had a massive craving at 4:30 this afternoon but immediately picked up the phone and called a woman who I had just been in the meeting with. She helped me through it and I got home safe and sound and the craving was gone.
Because I was sober today, I got to do the following things:
1. Walked my puppy in a gorgeous park on a sunny day
2. ate a good lunch
3. went to a great AA meeting
4. called a few family members
5. straightened up my house
6. did some Christmas shopping
7. bought my puppy a Christmas sweater..haha
8. made snacks for my son and his friends who came over to play basketball
9. let me daughter have a friend over for dinner and a sleepover
10. Took my son out to look at a Christmas present that he thinks he wants and we had a really nice time together
11. got my favorite carryout
12. got on SR and posted this and reponded to some PM's
13. Not I am going to chill under a blanket and watch Netflix
I would say it was a good day. A heck of a lot better than if I had been drinking! Drinking days are wasted days! I can't believe how much I got done in one day! So grateful for another sober day. Thank you God.

I made it! I made it over that freaking 4 day hump! I have slipped up on day 3 or 4 for the past year since my relapse. I am not over confident (will NEVER be over confident about this lethal disease!) but I'm relieved that I got past day 4! I was seriously about to give up!
What I did different this time: (in no particular order)
1. Took some time off work to focus 100% on my sobriety and saving my life.
2. Got an AA sponsor & contact her daily
3. Have gone to an AA meeting every day
4. Avoid stress as much as possible
5. self-care (rest, sleep, eat, be kind to myself)
6. Pray
7. read recovery material
8. SR
9. contact lots of new AA friends thru text or phone
10. Have hung on for dear life at times! It's been HARD!
What I have felt like: CRAP!
1. Tired
2. varying degrees of nausea
3. ANXIETY!
4. light headed
5. head aches
6. stomach issues
7. FEAR of the beast (alcohol) trying to "get me"! I have had a few cravings but got through them with the help of new AA friends, prayer and SR.
ANY TIPS ON EARLY RECOVERY SYMPTOMS? Especially ANXIETY???
Thanks for all of your support!

You took some great steps towards recovery and sobriety.
It seems to me that you want to take this very seriously.
I will sway from what I was going to say, and say this.
Are you done step 1, if no, why not.
Might want to consider getting a new sponsor who will take you through the steps, rather then a buddy. Just saying, is all, mean it with care and love!

OK I mean this with the utmost respect, and I care about you. You took some great steps towards recovery and sobriety. It seems to me that you want to take this very seriously. Every day the most important things I do are:
1. Pray in the morning and at night and ask God to help me stay sober and then thank him at the end of the day
2. Call my sponsor
3. Read my 24 hour a day meditation for the day
4. Go to a meeting
5. Read my Big Book and work on my step homework.
Have a nice evening. Thanks again for your concern. :-)
